Photography can be described as a state of meditation where there is just the "seeing" of the river of life. True meditation establishes a state of mind at peace with itself. One healthy way to find this natural silence, free from patterns and practice born of time is to pick up a camera, understanding that there is pure awareness in the same way that the photographic lens is pure awareness.
You know what is behind it – just awareness: a state of “seeing” that is the true state of meditation, timeless and free. The act of pressing the camera's shutter is a timeless communication. Life describing itself, a camera lens being exposed; this is a living camera. View more of John's photography in Wholly Natural Issue 11.
