At Wholly Natural, we believe that it’s important to give back. We’re always grateful to all the wonderful people who contribute to, share, read, and support our magazine. So, we wanted to share some of those good vibes with causes that we’re passionate about. That got us thinking – what are some of the organisations that resonate with the Wholly Natural lifestyle?
There’s no animal that’s quite as iconic to Australia as the Koala. They’re cute, curious, and we think they’re absolutely great. In fact, we’re so keen on them that we’ve sponsored and ‘adopted’ Coen the Koala. Although he (sadly) doesn’t live at the Wholly Natural office, he’s not far from our hearts. And that’s why we support the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF).
This non-profit and non-government organisation is dedicated to conserving, protecting, and managing wild koalas and their habitat. The AKF is entirely self-funded, meaning they rely on donations and volunteers to do their amazing work.
Sadly, in 2012 Koalas were listed as ‘vulnerable to extinction’. Historical hunting, bushfires, habitat loss, and human activity have severely dented their numbers in the wild. The AKF formed in 1986 to make a stand to protect Koalas, and we support them.
Life can often be tough for some humans too. Around 116,000 people in Australia experience homelessness. Thankfully, organisations such as Orange Sky Australia are helping these people in need by providing a variety of essential services.
Orange Sky Australia offer free laundry, showers and conversation to those who are most vulnerable. With their 27 vehicles across 21 cities that have washers, driers, showers, and excellent volunteers, they’re creating a supportive environment for those feeling disconnected from society.
The volunteers who work on the various projects are out making a real difference to people’s lives, and at Wholly Natural, we’re happy to donate to such a good cause.
Casting our gaze further afield, the third charity that we’re donating to is the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF). We got the idea after ‘adopting’ another wonderful animal, Cinta the orangutan. Tragically, the habitat of these beautiful creatures is being systematically destroyed.
The BOSF are doing all they can to protect the precious orangutans, and they’re making great progress. So far, they’ve rescued and released over 380 animals, and are caring for a further 600 in their sanctuaries. Palm Oil farming, land clearing, and fire are threatening the very existence of these amazing creatures, and we think it’s important to help protect them.
So, what does all this mean for Wholly Natural and your purchase of our magazine? Well, we’ve pledged to donate 10% of the profit from each sale of our magazine to these organisations. We’re committed to making a difference in the world, and we think that raising awareness, sharing stories, and giving generously can help.
We know that our readers care about people, the environment, and animals just as much as we do. So, whenever you make a purchase of Wholly Natural Magazine, you can rest assured that some of your spend is going to the good causes listed above.
